How this service can help

A home visit removes the journey to a clinic and lets the assessment start with your normal chair, bed, bathroom, steps and walking routes. That context can make the plan easier to understand and practise between visits.

You do not need to choose a treatment name before calling. Start with the task that has become harder: standing from a chair, walking to the letterbox, using stairs, returning home after hospital or feeling steady with a walking frame.

Everyday movement

Look at standing up, turning, walking indoors, steps and other tasks that matter in the person’s normal routine.

Strength and balance

Choose exercises that fit the person’s current ability, available space and equipment.

Equipment in context

Check whether a stick, walker or other aid is the right height and practical in the rooms and entrances where it will be used.

Family and carer guidance

Explain how another person can give useful support while preserving the older adult’s own involvement.

Planning your home visit

Private home visit prices: initial consultation $165, follow-ups from $130, plus $20 travel for each consultation ($185 initial; follow-ups from $150 including travel). See consultation inclusions and funding. We confirm the applicable fee and payment pathway before booking.

Check your suburb on the Sydney home visit service-area hub. Compare Support at Home, Medicare rebates and eligible DVA home visits before arranging care.

What happens from enquiry to plan

  1. Before the visitWe confirm the address, consultation fee, $20 travel fee, funding paperwork and the next available options.
  2. At the first visitThe physiotherapist asks what has changed, observes the movements that matter and agrees on a small number of practical goals.
  3. AfterwardsYou receive a clear next step. That may be exercises, another visit, equipment advice, communication with an authorised referrer or a different service.

Important to know

Mobile physiotherapy is not an emergency service. Call Triple Zero (000) for a medical emergency, and seek prompt medical advice for a sudden or unexplained change.

Common questions

Do I need a GP referral?

No referral is needed for a private booking. Medicare, DVA, Support at Home and other funding arrangements may require approval or paperwork first.

Can a family member make the enquiry?

Yes. Tell us who the appointment is for, who can consent to sharing information and who should receive booking updates.

What should be ready for the first visit?

Have the person’s usual walking aid, medication list or discharge information nearby if available. Comfortable clothes and the normal home setup are usually most useful.

Do you cover my suburb?

Use the areas we service hub or call with the address. Coverage and appointment options depend on clinician routes.

Can the physiotherapist visit an aged care facility?

A visit may be possible with the resident’s consent and the facility’s access arrangements. We confirm the contact person and any required documentation before booking.
